About Andrew

I have been around nonprofits most of my life.   My Dad was an Episcopal Priest and my brother and I often found ourselves “volunteered” long before we knew what that word meant!

We learned volunteer recruitment and fundraising by being around the church office.  We learned direct mail fulfillment running the mimeograph machine and manually sorting postcodes while still in elementary and junior high school.   We learned the difficulty of managing multiple interest groups within a large group and the compassion that is needed to perform the mission.

I have been active over the years as a volunteer, board member, fundraiser help, and many more of the regular and odd jobs that are needed to be done around at yours and at the nonprofits I personally care about.

From camps, to my daughters pre-school, to local organizations like River City Youth Foundation and Austin Children’s Shelter, I have tried to put my actions where my passion lies.   I, like everyone else, have not always been successful and always have wished I could do more.   I hope this book is one way I can help a broader audience of nonprofit organizations fix what I see as a broken process for many.

With 18+ years of sales experience, over 11 of that working directly with nonprofit organizations, my experience can be helpful to understand how your nonprofit can become better buyers or how your company can better focus its sales efforts into the nonprofit sector.   I have worked at Convio, run my company called Your Mission (partnered extensively with eTapestry), Kintera, Serenic Software and FirstGiving (Linkedin Public Profile).

I have had the privilege of working closely with so many wonderful nonprofits such as Heifer Project International, Boy Scouts of America, MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Nature Conservancy, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Arbor Day Foundation and many more both large and small and am looking forward to how I can put that perspective to work for your company or your organization.

On a personal note, I live in Austin, TX with my wife Jill, my two wonderful daughters, Anne and Rebekah, our three cats, dog and the oldest 29 cent goldfish on the planet, Jerry.

Thanks so much and I hope that my experience through this book is helpful for you.
